![The capital city of the Indian state of Rajasthan, Jaipur, is home to the distinctive and well-known Hawa Mahal palace. Built by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799 CE.
The Hawa Mahal is well-known for its unusual pink facade, which resembles a honeycomb and is made up of 953 tiny windows known as jharokhas. Since royal women were expected to adhere to strict purdah (the practice of concealing women from public view), these windows were made so that they could observe the streets below without being noticed.
The five-story palace is designed to resemble the crown of the Hindu deity Krishna. It extends the palace complex and is situated on the periphery of the City Palace. The design aimed to optimize the inflow of cool air into the structure, providing the palace's occupants with a light-filled and spacious atmosphere.
Currently, one of Jaipur's most visited tourist destinations is the Hawa Mahal. Entering the palace allows guests to ascend to the top floor, where they can take in expansive views of the historic city. The architectural design combines Mughal and Rajput components to create a remarkably beautiful and distinctive landmark.
